Zij werken aan een nieuwe voorstelling, bereiden zich voor op een festival of boetseren aan nieuwe gedachten. Voordat het grote publiek ze ontdekt heeft, brengt TRYO deze cabaretiers één keer per maand naar het Comedy Café.

Comedy Atelier Special TRYO op 21 maart
Joanna Sio, a Hong Kong native who used to live in Amsterdam, is coming back to town with her one-hour stand-up comedy special, a journey about love, relationships and violence against inanimate objects. A sharp observer of life and unapologetically self-centered, she is going to have a good time.
Joanna Sio won second place at the 2012 Hong Kong International Comedy Competition. She has performed live stand-up in Australia, Canada, India, Hong Kong, China, Singapore, Malaysia, Germany, Poland, Austria, the Czech Republic and now the Netherlands.

Tijdens dezer show boetseren de meesters van de comedy aan hun nieuwste en briljantste grappen, kneden ze de actualiteiten om tot de meest hilarische sketches en nemen ze met een penseelstreek de perceptie op de hak. Jonge talenten krijgen de kans om het podium te betreden en hun eerste hersenspinsels uit te werken
De tweede helft van deze show staat in het teken van The Dutch Roast Battles.
Een roast battle is een live battle op het podium tussen 2 stand up comedians. Beurtelings proberen ze met slimme, maar keiharde grappen, hun opponent te raken en te verslaan. Het is een verbale strijd, fysiek contact is niet toegestaan.

A cross over between Stand-up Comedy and Opera within the show of Stand-up Diva and opera singer Quirine Melssen. In her show “What the Gluck” Stand- up diva Quirine Melssen has an apocalyptic approach, combining opera and stand up comedy. She interacts with her audience, makes them laugh and moves with her outstanding voice.
Never wanted to go to an opera because it takes three hours before they come to the point, it’s expensive and you don’t even understand what the hell they are singing about?
Then: welcome to the world of Quirine Melssen and the standup opera What the gluck?
Here you can feel the spit on your face, coming from a real diva standing right in front of you. Laughing and drinking is allowed and you don’t have to wear a suit.

Classically trained soprano Quirine Melssen brings you an afternoon filled with fast-paced comedy, an unsurpassed High C and – last but not least – some gangster rap.
At the end of the show you have experienced the entire opera “Orfeo ed Euridice” by the composer Christoph Willibald von Gluck; the beautiful music and the story of the guy who was allowed to bring his beloved Euridice back from the dead but was stupid enough to look over his shoulder.

Zij gaan try-outen voor Comedy en Concert in de Kuip op 1 juli 2017.
Dat is het verrassende van een stand-up comedy show. Je weet nooit wie binnen komt lopen. Speel je in een groot stadion of een enorme concert zaal, dan is het fijn om in een klein gezelschap grappen te kunnen testen. Er is geen andere plek waar je zo direct feedback krijgt op grappen dan Comedy Cafe Amsterdam.
We zijn dan ook heel trots om te merken dat de ware comedy legendes in Nederland ook met plezier hun grappen willen testen bij ons. Zo ook Najib Amhali en Jandino Asporaat.

e this genius stand-up comedian, poet, improviser and TV stalwart will perform his show “JUPLICITY” in Comedy Café! We are very honoured to welcome him in Amsterdam.Phill became a familiar face when he started as team captain on BBC2’s pop quiz Never Mind The Buzzcocks in 1996, which went on to run for 19 years. He also appears as a regular guest on QI (BBC2) and Alan Davies As yet Untitled (Dave), and in 2012 returned to television stand-up for the first time since 2000 with an appearance on Live at the Apollo (BBC1).
On BBC Radio 4 Phill is a regular panellist of the award winning I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue and The Unbelievable Truth. In addition, he has presented numerous radio documentaries including, Phill Jupitus’ Comic Strips, Calvin and Hobbes and The Man Who Bought Hendrix’s Stage.
Phill toured the UK and Ireland with the musical Chitty Chitty Bang Bang in 2016 starring as Baron Bomburst / Lord Scrumptious and he played Bottom in the Bath Theatre Royal production of A Midsummer’s Night Dream in August. His other theatre work includes appearing as Edna Turnblad in the West End cast of Hairspray.

Comedy Café Amsterdam organiseert ook dit jaar weer verschillende Masterclasses en wekelijks terugkomende Stand-up Comedy cursussen. Tijdens deze bijeenkomsten word je als ruwe diamant (comedian in spé) bij de hand genomen om potentiele grappen te polijsten, totdat je blinkt van het zelfvertrouwen.
Hierbij bieden wij voorlopig de volgende opties:
